Present yourself:
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Turgay ALTUNCU, a professional seafarer with over 25 years of maritime
experience, including 14 years as a Yacht Captain. I have successfully commanded and
managed yachts up to 40 meters in the Mediterranean, operating in Turkey, Greece, Egypt,
Montenegro, Italy, and the South of France. My years at sea have shaped me into a
disciplined, confident, and dependable leader who thrives under pressure and adapts to every
challenge the ocean can bring.
I hold a 500 GRT Yacht Master License and possess a deep technical understanding of
engineering, mechanical systems, maintenance, and shipyard operations. I believe that a
true captain should not only navigate from the bridge, but also know every pulse of the vessel
— from the main engines to the smallest electrical component. I am actively involved in refit,
repair, and inspection projects and take pride in ensuring that each vessel under my
command meets the highest standards of safety, performance, and presentation.
I am married and a father of three children. My life, both personal and professional, is guided
by the same principles: loyalty, honesty, and endurance. I do not smoke, drink alcohol, or
use any substances, and I have no tattoos or piercings. I am a clean, disciplined, and
responsible individual who represents the highest standards of professionalism both on and off
duty. I may not have a shiny button on my uniform, but I wear something far more valuable —
integrity, humility, and an unbreakable commitment to my craft.
Over the years, I have learned that being a captain is not about titles or appearances; it is about
trust, accountability, and calm leadership. I have faced storms, technical failures, long refit
periods, and challenging crew situations, always maintaining order, morale, and focus. Each
challenge has taught me that perseverance is a captain’s greatest compass.
I am continuously improving my English, currently at an upper-intermediate to advanced
level, as I work toward fluency to communicate effectively with multinational teams and guests.
My ultimate goal is not just to navigate vessels, but to deliver reliability, comfort, and confidence
to owners and their families.
Sometimes the most valuable choice a company can make is not hiring the perfect résumé, but
the person who never gives up — the one who learns fast, adapts to any situation, and leads
with heart and responsibility. I am that person. The one who stands steady in any storm, who
faces every challenge with calm strength, and who never stops striving for excellence.
If given the opportunity, I can confidently guarantee that you will never regret your decision. I
am ready to bring my experience, discipline, and determination to serve with honor and
professionalism under your command.
Kind regards,
Turgay ALTUNCU
