Present yourself:
Who am I and what can I offer:
My enthusiasm for sailing - a positive attitude all the way!
Sailing since young in Brittany, I am the captain of Idéfix, a Kelt 6.20m, in Côtes d’Armor. As soon as acquired, in 2011, my sister and I took many day trips, traveling all around from Roscoff to Saint-Quay Portrieux, including Jersey. In 2018-2019 we participated and won first place in the 2019 TASA Channel Islands Regatta.
I have a soft spot for night sailing and long distance; I have done many night watches/crossings 2 handed (this year for example, Sardinia to Napoli, within the Balearics, Ibiza - Barcelona).
I have spent 3 summer seasons in Brittany repairing sailing boats (with Les Glénans, a sailing school). This year I have also participated in lifting and anti-fouling a Bénéteau 473 (Dogstar) and an IMOCA 60 (Mundus). I have experience in sailing boat maintenance, I thoroughly enjoy it and I am keen to learn more in that sector.
Being a sailor, I have also developed high interests in meteorology (pressure systems, cloud formation, weather prediction etc.) along with soft rigging (practicing on Dyneema off cuts). I am curious and eager to learn more.
Personality wise, I am very easy going - I have spent all my life living in different countries, thus meeting people from different backgrounds, nationalities, genders, ages etc. Through this, I have acquired high adaptation skills and learnt 5 languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian).
On boats, I have always found a way to get along with my colleagues. I bring honesty and respect to my relationships, along with clear positive communication. I can be both sociable and discreet, when either is required.
The type of work I would like to do is primarily focusing on the boat: her maintenance, her sailing/racing, her optimisation, her equilibrium. Giving her the care she needs for her to bloom in full beauty at every moment. Sail repairs, varnishing, cleaning, scrubbing, polishing, rigging, ropework, sailing, holding watches, long distance passages, navigation… and more!
I can also participate in interior or galley work; if we are in a small team, everyone has to help in all departments!
Evidently, I understand that to work on a boat and in a team, one needs to be humble, flexible and spend time absorbing all the information. Each boat has its own rules and I will be meticulous about learning and applying them in my next adventure, wherever the wind takes me!
