I am a qualified Chef from South Africa currently searching for new career opportunities in the Maritime Industry. I have recently completed an intensive training program on a luxury commercial Cruise Line based in Nassau, however was required to return to South Africa due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and have been grounded due to the current restrictions both in South Africa and abroad. I am specifically exploring a placement in USA waters as I already have a valid C1/D American visa.
My initial three-month contract was spent sailing in the Caribbean, and has confirmed that a life at sea is without a doubt the career path I would like to follow. I am particularly interested in a position with a merchant/cargo vessel, where my talent as a chef can be expressed on a more personal level. Happy ship, happy life kind of approach. I have just completed my STCW95, PDSD and Powerboat Level 2 qualifications in South Africa. I additionally have a valid Seaman’s book, Seafarer Medical Certificate (SAMSA) and have been recently vaccinated against yellow fever.
