My Job Responsibilities - were to:

1) Stand deck department watches as well as performs variety of duties to preserve painted surfaces of ship to maintain lines, running gear, and also cargo-handling gear in safe operating condition

2) Watch from bow of ship or wing of bridge for obstructions in path of ship

3) Turn wheel while observing compass to steer maintain ship on course

4) Mops or washes down deck, using hose, to remove oil, dirt, and also debris

5) Chip as well as cleans rust spots from deck, superstructure, and also sides of ship, using hand or air chipping hammer wire brush

6) Splice wire rope, using marlinespike, wirecutters, and also twine.
