My personal skills and competence has been the product of my career as an Officer of the Uruguayan Navy for 34 years (1975-2009). Since the Naval Academy and the following years of experience aboard the war ships, several support units and training centers. Therefore results in the acquisition of professional knowledge and competence to fulfill the tasks and responsibilities of the Seaman and for the efficient management of Human Resources, which it enables to perform duties on board a ship and be able to face limit situations in order to preserve human life at sea and specifically the safety, training and wellbeing of subordinate personnel, as well as the valuable material means at our disposition. Personally, this entails the achievement and evolution of skills such as Resolution, Perseverance, Integrity, Responsibility, Honesty, Spirit of Justice, Sense of Duty, Generosity, Professionalism, Sociability, Patience, Resilience, Adaptability, Enthusiasm, Creativity, Teamwork, Subordination and Loyalty. This is combined with the wisdom of years of experience and lead by example to crew members placed under our responsibility and enriched with moral values, respect for privacy, diversity and standards of conduct, as well as compliance with laws and regulations governing seafarers.
The above, over the years in which I have served as Chief Mate and Master (2009-2019) on ships dedicated to the transport of passengers and vehicles, I have adapted and successfully applied it in fulfilling my responsibilities in the areas of Navigation, Maneuvering, Deck, Management of Human Resources and Passenger situations, using technological means, navigation aids and computer tools.
